Church and Community

The church is the most important part of any community. Its members make it so. For it is here where we can set the moral compass for our lives, our families and our communities.

Though not everyone can go to the same church it helps when all go to church. By bringing ourselves to God’s house we can allow one another to commune and fellowship. Through this communion and fellowship, we can find out what is going on in each other’s lives. We can find out who is in need. We can find out what ministries we can create to help those in our community.

Another thing that we can do is give something to the church. It can be a monetary gift. It can be the gift of our time. It could be a talent that we have that can be used to help the church or community. It could be letting others know what groups and organizations in the community are doing and how we can contribute to them.

And when we take all of this to God and ask for His help, we can bless our communities far beyond what can be imagined. The idea of a food pantry becomes a reality and the hungry are fed. A clothing drive takes place and those who need them are taken care of. A bible study for children is created.

In some towns people being in church helps local business. Many decide to shop at the local grocery store or eat at a local restaurant after church.

Also, by going to church with one another we become closer as citizens. Generation after generation grows up together. Fathers know fathers. Mothers know mothers. Children know children. The schoolteacher knows the bus driver. The farmer knows the owner of the local store. In cities, the owner of the apartment complex can get to know their tenants better and maybe be more receptive to their needs.

Another thing about going to church as a community is that we will be more apt to do the right thing for one another. And if someone is not doing the right thing the people in the community will see it and let them know. If that person cares about their community, they will straighten up and fly right as the old saying goes.

To make our communities as strong as possible, the church is the place to start. It helps to set the moral compass of the community for the entire week. And it allows us to ask God how we can make our hometowns reach their full potential.

When we make the church our home on Sunday, we can allow God into our communities for the rest of the week.

And the more He is with us, the more we can accomplish.
