When Elected Officials Succeed, America Succeeds

We should want our elected officials to succeed. For if they succeed individually, then we succeed as a nation.

Many of us have a hard time doing this. We have been divided by party lines for so long that it is hard for us to admit when the person we did not elect is doing a good job. That would mean that we may have voted for the wrong person. That the other side was right.

That is not necessarily true. There are times when we have two worthy candidates to vote for.

The truth is every elected official will do good and bad. Not every decision that they make is the right one. We can only hope that when they decide it is thought out and discussed beforehand.

There is nothing wrong with wanting others to succeed. We should want the best for all who are trying to help others. We should want them to want the best for us. That is what God wants for us.

Now, this does not mean we should not hold our elected officials accountable. We should. People will be less inclined to make the right decision if there is no accountability for their actions.

What we should want from our elected officials is that they have sympathy and empathy. That they should care enough about the people whom they represent to serve them.

The job of an elected local official is the well-being of their district. We should help them to accomplish this by letting them know what we as citizens want and do not want.

The job of a Governor is the well-being of their state. We as citizens of a state should do everything in our power to let our Governors know what we need from them so they can govern as necessary.

The job of a Senator or Congressman is to represent the state that elected them on Capitol Hill. This means that they are taking the needs of the people to their fellow countrymen to make America better.

The job of the President is to bring all sides together as one to make right decisions that benefit every American.

The goal of every elected official is to make the well-being of those whom they serve better than it was when they were elected.

We should want all of this to happen because it will make America better.

Whether we voted for an elected official or not. Whether we like or dislike them we should all want them to be successful. To do right by everyone.

For if they do we will all benefit from it town by town, state by state and throughout America.
