Truth Seekers and Tellers

There are those who seek truth in America. And the world. There are those who tell the truth. They do it even when it may cost them. Are we not blessed to have them?

It is those who seek truth that bring positive change to America. Those who speak the truth tell us what we must know to reach our full potential. The genuine truth seekers and tellers do so not for fame or fortune. They do it out of the kindness of their heart.

Truth seekers and tellers come from all walks in life. Parents seek truth in raising their children. Pastors and preachers tell the truth to their congregations then strive to live it. Activists who listen to God seek truth in crusading for others. Children tell us the truth about adults and situations when we least expect them. Sometimes, we wish that the little ones would not.

Then there are the famous truth seekers and tellers. We tend to like the truth seekers more because the tellers sometimes step on our toes. As the old saying goes, “Sometimes the truth hurts.”

Famous truth seekers are those who believed slavery was wrong. They are those who led women’s right to vote. They are those who helped end segregation. They are those who step up to help the oppressed, suppressed, and abused gain freedom. They are those who believe that if we seek the truth, we will find it.

The truth tellers’ step on our toes because their words often target those who do not speak or believe the truth. They tell us what is right when something is wrong.

It could be telling us how bad our education system is and how we can fix it. It could be telling us about an inequity in health care. Or an inequity in job hiring. It could be telling us that we are nothing without God and all our accomplishments are meaningless if they do not glorify him.

Truth seekers and tellers have a way of making us think. They have a way of making us look inside ourselves and see if we are living a truthful life. If the truth that they seek and tell hurts people at times, then fine. Sometimes this must be so we can become free.

With all that has gone on in America, we could very easily be a country in constant turmoil. Where wrongs become the norm. Despite what we may see and hear every day in the news and on television this is not the case. The truth is that there are and always will be truth seekers and tellers trying to help us walk the straight and narrow path of righteousness.

Whether that remnant of people is big or small, they bless our country.

And if we are not a part of the remnant we can still join.
