The Succesful Community

What makes a successful community? How do we achieve the goal of making our towns as productive as possible?

The first thing may be to take care of the health, safety and well-being of every citizen who lives in our towns. Keep the air and water clean. Do not let trash and pollution seep into streets and businesses. Make sure that every citizen can walk the streets and trust that their homes are safe. Give everyone an opportunity to contribute while getting what each of us needs to survive.

Then we must pool resources and build infrastructure. If we live in a rural area, we can farm the land for ourselves and each other. Some farmers can do it to provide for the local community. Some can farm produce for the entire nation. There is enough land in this country to produce enough food for everyone. Whether one wants to do it themselves or rely on big farms to do it.

In some areas, lumber may be the industry that sustains them. In others it might be automobile production. In other places it might be the ability to make clothing, furniture, or electronics. Or it might be making the raw materials that help these industries.

Once resources are pooled, we can give jobs to people so that they can work nearby and not have to travel out of town to work. This keeps them closer to their families. Which means they can spend more time with them. And there is nothing that families need more than time together. Who knows? We might get back to eating breakfast and dinner together as families.

As for infrastructure, a community is better off with a local bank for its citizens to place their money. The more money everyone is willing to put into the local bank the more it can help the community. And the most important thing is the money stays within the community. Because once our money leaves our community, whether it be a bank or business, it never comes back.

A local police department and firehouse should exist. Those who want to be a part of them should have certain benefits. And the more police officers who live in the community the better. For if our local police get to know the citizens they serve and protect and we as citizens get to know them, situations are far more likely taken care of without incident.

Then a good school system for our children. Their education is key to helping the community sustain and improve. Parks for everyone to spend some leisure time would be beneficial too.

These are quite simple things to help our communities sustain themselves and reach their full potential. There may be other ways, but it is a start.

When we take care of our communities they take care of us.

Then we become successful and all of us get what we need from them.
