Angels

America has been blessed in so many ways. The angels have smiled at us since the beginning. Even though there are times when we don’t acknowledge them.

If not for angels how could those cast into slavery have survived? Their lives may have been filled with strife and hardship, but every day they pushed on. They may not have been provided with much but knew enough to survive. And many walked in faith believing that someday things would get better. If not for them then for their children and grandchildren.

If not for angels how could those who came to this country looking for a new beginning have persevered to make them, and their families’ lives better? They left everything they had to do it. They trusted that it would happen. Through the slights and injustices, they worked to become a part of the American fabric.

If not for angels, how would we survive natural disasters that have affected so many? So many who lose are given so much. So much that is destroyed is rebuilt or replaced. So many that are harmed are healed.

And all of us are blessed by angels whether we see it or not. We see it in the times where we are stranded on a highway, and someone helps us with our vehicles. Or when we may be a little short of money and someone intercedes and pays our bill. Or when we are down in the dumps and a shoulder to cry on, ear to listen or words of encouragement come from someone we least expect.

And how about the moments when angels do things that we don’t even see or know happen? Think of all the people who pray for us. We have pastors, family members, friends and people we will never know who go to a quiet place and pray for our protection. Pray for our well-being. Pray for our families. When we stop to think about this how can we not feel loved?

Then there are those who do little things without fanfare. The cleaning people on a job. The person who removes an obstacle on a road that could cause an accident. The person who donates to a cause anonymously. The people who quietly fight for the rights of others.

Yes, the angels have been a part of America since its beginning. And all of us have received help from them.

We are not where we can be as a country.

But if we are willing to let the angels help us we have a chance.
